How to register
If you’d like to contribute a treasure or share your knowledge with others by submitting a comment, you’ll need to register.
Step 1 – Begin the registration process
- Click the register link in the pale purple navigation bar.

Step 2 – Read the Terms & Conditions
- Click the ‘I agree’ button at the bottom of the page once you’ve read and accepted the Terms & Conditions.
You will now see the ‘Register to contribute’ form. Remember that all fields marked with an asterisk * must be filled out.
Step 3 – Enter your details
- Enter your email address.
Once your registration has been confirmed, your email address will also be your username.
This name will be displayed with your contribution. Use anything you like as your nickname – your initials, a favourite childhood name, a name of your own invention, whatever you think is appropriate.
Please note if you are registering on behalf of an organisation, your nickname will be the name of your organisation.
- Choose your city, suburb or town.
This will be displayed with your contribution. You can use the suburb or town you live in, the district, or even the state. Although people reading your contribution won’t know who you are, they’ll be interested to know what part of the world you live in.
- Enter your first and last names.
This information is only used in email correspondence during the registration and contribution processes. It is completely private and will not be given to anyone else.
Step 4 – Choose your password
Your password must be between six and 12 characters, and should contain no spaces or punctuation. You will use this password, along with your username to log in to contribute.
- Enter your password.
- Type in your password again.
Step 5 – Register on behalf of an organisation (optional)
- Click on the arrow on the drop-down menu and choose ‘yes’ if you are registering on behalf of an organisation.

You will now see four additional boxes to fill out.
- Enter the name of the organisation you are representing.
The name of your organisation will be used as your nickname and published with your contribution.
- Enter a postal address, postcode and, if possible, a phone number for the organisation.
We may need to verify that you are authorised to represent your organisation.
Step 6 – Proceed to the next stage
- Check your details are correct.
- Click the ‘Register now’ button.

You will now see a message telling you that your registration is being processed.
Step 7 – Confirm your registration
- Go to your email inbox and open the email with the subject line ‘[your.slv] Confirm your registration’.
- Click the link in this email to confirm your registration. If the link is not working, cut and paste the url into the address field of your browser. You will see a message telling you that you can now log in to the Your Treasures website. To do this:
- Enter your email address and password into the login boxes in the top-right hand area of your screen.
